exhibition design
As the Exhibition Coordinator Intern at the John Michael Kohler Art Center, I led the curation and layout design for the "Cultural Asset Mapping in Sheboygan" exhibition. This project aimed to visually map the city's cultural landscape in an interactive and evolving way, encouraging visitors to not just observe, but actively contribute to Sheboygan's ongoing cultural story.

This project aimed to visually map the city's cultural landscape in an interactive and evolving way, encouraging visitors to not just observe, but actively contribute to Sheboygan's ongoing cultural story.
Challenge:
The key challenge was to design an exhibition that represented Sheboygan’s diverse cultural fabric, while also incorporating an interactive element that would engage and involve the local community in a meaningful way. We needed to balance curated artwork with participatory design, ensuring the exhibit was both informative and accessible.
My Role & Approach:
With the purpose in mind, I curated pieces from local artists and students, highlighting diverse cultural assets, and incorporated an interactive map as the centerpiece of the exhibition, where visitors could add their own cultural points of interest.
Design & Curation:
I worked closely with artists and educational institutions to source original artwork and curated the space to ensure a cohesive flow between static displays and interactive elements. The exhibition’s layout allowed for visitor interaction by allowing viewers to draw their own drawing of Sheboygan county, balancing the traditional displays with modern, participatory design.
Outcome:
The exhibition received strong community feedback, with high visitor participation in the interactive elements. It successfully engaged audiences of all ages and earned local media attention for its innovative approach to cultural mapping, solidifying the center’s reputation for dynamic, community-driven exhibitions.

Chinese Student Association (CSA) Design Projects
As the Design Intern for the Chinese Student Association (CSA), my focus was on creating a visual identity that reflects the club's friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

Instagram:
As the Design Intern for the Chinese Student Association’s Welcome Week, I designed Instagram posts to promote events aimed at new members and created a new logo to establish a friendly, cohesive brand. The Instagram posts featured collage-style layouts with candid photos and hand-drawn elements, presenting the club as approachable and community-focused. This design helped new students feel connected and encouraged to attend events.

Logo Design:
The logo design drew inspiration from the Year of the Dragon, incorporating a soft, cartoon-style dragon holding a flower, symbolizing growth and community. I used rounded lines and warm pastel tones to make the design approachable and inviting. The dragon, a symbol of strength and unity, added cultural relevance while aligning with CSA’s values of nurturing personal connections within the student body.
Outcome:
Both the Instagram posts and logo successfully reinforced CSA’s identity as a welcoming and close-knit community. The posts currently released have boosted engagement on social media, while the logo became a memorable symbol that resonated with current and prospective members, enhancing the club's overall visibility and appeal.

Iridescence Literary Magazine
Iridescence Literary Magazine
As the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Iridescence Literary Magazine, I aimed to create a visually compelling platform to showcase the artistic and literary talents within my school and community. I designed each magazine cover to reflect the thematic essence of each issue, focusing on vibrant, imaginative visuals that captured attention and set the tone for the content inside. My approach combined bold, illustrative designs with thoughtful typography to ensure each cover stood out as a work of art in itself.
In addition to the cover design, I led the team in curating the art and layout of the magazine. This included selecting student artwork, coordinating with writers, and overseeing the overall visual flow of each issue. I collaborated with my team on the interior design, ensuring a seamless integration of art and text that enhanced the reader's experience while maintaining a professional, artistic aesthetic.
This project exemplifies my passion for design and visual storytelling, demonstrating my ability to merge art direction and editorial leadership in a way that fosters creativity and elevates the work of young artists. Iridescence continues to be a vibrant, visual platform that showcases the power of design in shaping a community's artistic expression.
